Leicester City and AC Milan set to lose out on transfer target in summer
A report suggests Leicester City and AC Milan are set to lose out on a transfer target both clubs were pursuing ahead of the summer. Otavio may now remain in Portugal.
Was Otavio Edmilson da Silva Monteiro, or Otavio/Otavinho, the attacking midfielder Brendan Rodgers hinted at and tried to sign in January? Maybe, he just may well have been! Could a high new year pricetag have been the reason no bid was made or deal agreed?
The Brazilian/Portuguese footballer currently plays for Porto in the Primeira Liga. Athough the division is not particularly competitive with regard to the explosion of quality in the Premier League, some amazing athletes such as Manchester United‘s Bruno Fernandes and Leicester’s own Ricardo Pereira emerged from Portugal’s top-flight.
Unfortunately for the King Power team, who are said to be monitoring the 26-year-old, Porto are apparently negotiating a new deal with Otavio in order to retain their asset.
This apparent update will also upset Italian giants AC Milan – they were knocked out of the Europa League by United on Thursday evening – as the San Siro outfit were tracking Otavio as well, according to Sport Witness.
Promising Leicester City prospect signs new deal
Shane Flynn, signed at 18 from Bray in the Republic of Ireland, is a Dublin born defender who’s been with LCFC for around three years. Brendan Rodgers saw fit to promote the player to his senior squad, therefore we can expect a bright future for the 19-year-old. Here’s what the club says about the defender’s well-earned, improved new contract:
"Flynn’s standout performances [while competing for the Foxes Under-23s] have seen him rewarded with a place on the First Team bench against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League, while he was also part of Leicester City’s UEFA Europa League squads earlier this season.Via lcfc.com"
