According to a report, Leicester City will battle a Premier League rival for a signing; meanwhile a Fox receives a maiden international call-up.

Leicester City will face off against fellow Midlands outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers for Real Betis’ William Carvalho during the summer, as per Caught Offside, they quote Estadio Deportivo.

Carvalho is a defensive midfielder, one who is said to have ‘caught the eye of many top English clubs while at Sporting Lisbon’, which means there are other Premier League sides interested.

Of course this is not the initial time sports media has connected Leicester with a move for the 28-year-old. £17million is his supposed price tag. We all know that role is saturated presently so unless Hamza Choudhry leaves, it’s an unlikely switch.

Leicester City man talks

Papy Mendy did superbly well when he came into the side for successive games earlier this season when Wilfred Ndidi was sidelined due to injury.

Mendy was so good – I can only remember one game in which the defensive-minded man wasn’t too impressive, just before the Nigerian returned to the side – in many of his covering appearances, that I personally thought he was reminiscent of N’golo Kante during his reign on Filbert Way.

That assessment may sound like a slight over-exaggeration, but Mendy was very effective indeed: doing everything his two aforementioned counterparts successfully did – with the statistics to back up the assessment.

Mendy spoke this week following his decision to commit his national status to Senegal. He may feature in their two upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Speaking about his absence from the Foxes team, the former France youth player said this:

"“These days, the manager makes his choices. Regarding what concerns me, I’ve always tried to do my best by giving body and soul during training. I continue like that all the while knowing I don’t have the final say”.– Papy MendyVia Sport Witness"
