Leicester City: Emerging star to sign new contract with increased wages
Leicester City are set to reward emerging star Kelechi Iheanacho with a new contract. The potential deal will see the attacker’s wages increased by half.
Any striker averaging a-goal-per-game after 15 starts for a Premier League side in all competitions should be demanding a new contract. Not to mention that they should start every game possible!
Regardless of playing time and whether he is a legitimate successor to Jamie Vardy – Kelechi Iheanacho has earned this prospective fresh deal. The Sun says, rightly, that the Brendan Rodgers effect has enabled this turn in fortune on Filbert Way for the Nigerian.
Additionally, the publication suggests that other domestic and foreign teams are monitoring Iheanacho’s great progress in recent times, with a view to a bid. Furthermore, his wages could increase by half:
"Iheanacho currently earns £60k-a-week but could expect to bump that up to £90,000-a-week as Vardy’s long term successor. With money tight throughout the game, the £25million the Foxes paid to sign the Nigerian from Manchester City in 2017, is beginning to look like a bargain.– Graeme Bryce"
Leicester City forgotten man still up for sale
Moving on now, and Foxes winger Rachid Ghezzal – who is presently loaned to Besiktas in Turkey, following a fairly successful loan spell at Fiorentina in Italy – is still on the transfer market list. Apparently the King Power club are still hoping for interest so they can permanently offload the Algerian this summer, as per Sport Witness.
Ghezzal has performed brilliantly in the Turkish Super Lig: he’s managed 14 goal involvements in 21 matches for the Black Eagles. Naturally this increases the chance of a club there possibly eyeing a move for the wingman. Talks between Besiktas and Leicester are said to be underway over a switch at the campaign’s end; yet the Foxes are not offering a discount on their €8 million valuation.
