Reports suggest that Leicester City have offered a four-year contract to a transfer target also wanted by Tottenham Hotspur.

The search continues for a consistent, efficient right-sided left-footed winger on Filbert Way, and has done ever since Riyad Mahrez departed the club.

That role is truly the only position that hasn’t been adequately filled by one of the excellent promoted youth stars. Signings such as Rachid Ghezzal – currently on loan at Turkish outfit Besiktas – nor loanee from Roma Cengiz Under have managed to get close to replicating what the Manchester City man achieved for the Foxes.

People seem to forget just how good Mahrez was for Leicester – despite his dislikeable ways and disrespect of the King Power side in recent times – duplicating what he produced in some way is very difficult, if not impossible, even for the vast majority of elite strikers.

Could Florian Thauvin be the man to replace the first Algerian? Possibly. And the Foxes have apparently made a four-year/€3.5 million-a-year offer to the World Cup winner. There are more details here.

Manager Brendan Rodgers is known to want to acquire attacking midfield options, while Thauvin is more of a wideman. The main deficiency at Leicester is in a central position. Though the French player can fill in as a No.10, which actually makes him more desirable.

Leicester City boss looks ahead

Whilst speaking about the Northern Irishman, his delight in progressing to the FA Cup semi-finals was a very rewarding experience. Which is fully deserved by the boss and his team. Rodgers himself had some words to say about their upcoming opponents and the “special” nature of the fabled cup:

Must Read. Kelechi Iheanacho nominated for awards. light

"“We are in the semi-final and we have a chance to get to the final and create history. When it comes we will fight and give everything we can to achieve that.“For the club to get to the final and win the trophy would be really special. It’s a trophy in their history they haven’t won. I would be so happy for the owners.”– Brennan RodgersVia Daily Mail"
