Brendan Rodgers provided Leicester City team news before the Foxes’ semi-final against Southampton, with two significant injury boosts emerging.

On Sunday, Leicester can get one step closer to glory as they meet the Saints in London for a huge match. Everyone wants their club to progress to a Wembley final – and it’s about time the FA Cup started to receive the attention it once did.

Prestigiously, the competition has lost some of its shine; yet the King Power side have never won that domestic trophy, only the Premier League and League Cup are in the non-Dulux sponsored cabinet. Leicester supporters are known to relish the chance of completing a set of domestic silverware, even if it will have taken 20 years to do so since the previous League Cup triumph.

Team news for big Leicester City match

Manager Rodgers spoke to media prior to the impending trip to the capital, offering insight into the camp as preparations die down ready for the weekend’s kickoff.

Firstly, it is more great news on the injury/COVID-19 front, as Caglar Soyuncu has been cleared to play versus Southampton. This is a huge positive for the east Midlands outfit, who have been fielding three centre-backs when all three – Jonny Evans, as well as Wesley Fofana – are fit.

Secondly, Soyuncu’s Turkey teammate, Cengiz Under, is also available for the contest. Under’s availability is certainly more crucial than some people would imagine, after an up-and-down spell on Filbert Way since leaving Roma on loan. But I think the Turk has something to offer Rodgers – even if it inevitably is from the substitute’s bench.
