Reports of Leicester targeting Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham intensify
Leicester City have again been linked with targeting Tammy Abraham for a transfer this summer as a potential Jamie Vardy replacement.
Before you think it – I’m not convinced that the Chelsea forward is the appropriate heir to the Foxes’ contemporary No.9, Vardy. Though I do believe he is worthy of a bid if the Pensioners and Thomas Tuchel don’t value him.
Maybe Leicester can even negotiate a cheaper than usual deal for the Englishman. Maybe they can even unload more unneeded players onto the Londoners for excessive values. But I’m getting ahead of myself.
First of all, does Abraham fit the style of Brendan Rodgers’ side? Directly, no; although Vardy’s recent decline hasn’t gone unnoticed and also left a void which a different striker, Kelechi Iheanacho, filled whilst bringing something different to the table.
And, incidentally, the Blues attacker actually has more speed than many people imagine; he is known for making runs in behind defences. Not to mention being very efficient aerially, partly due to his six-foot-three height.
And now more stories are being printed about Leicester eyeing up Abraham for an off-season swoop. Rodgers’ recruitment staff are “keeping tabs” on the player, if multiple reports can be trusted:

Next up for Leicester City
On Thursday, Leicester play West Bromwich Albion at King Power Stadium. Rodgers’ men will be confident of victory, but it won’t be straight forward. Three points are not guaranteed for the Foxes despite the Baggies being 19th in a division of 20 Premier League sides.
Evidently that position does not reflect the whole truth of the current WBA outfit: they are a side who have a few underrated attackers, like Norwich City in 2019/20, and can hurt any team. The boost they’ve been given by appointing perennial relegation-evader, Sam Allardyce, is also clear.
