Leicester City have received a boost in their apparent pursuit of a Barcelona player; Foxes of Leicester dissects and explains the situation.

The long search for a Riyad Mahrez replacement will resume in the 2021 off-season. Manchester City’s player, a former Premier League champion with Leicester, is clearly a hard act to follow.

We’ve seen a few fail to produce what the Algerian did: Rachid Ghezzal, Fousseni Diabate, Cengiz Under. None of those players – Under, is on loan from Italian outfit Roma – provided even half of the guile, wit, influence or output of Mahrez.

Leicester have been linked with quite a few potential wing signings in advance of the transfer market opening. Barcelona’s Francisco Trincao is certainly a supposed target who stands out, and not just for his prestigious club: his quality as a left-footed right-winger.

Interestingly, it appears that the east Midlands side may have had a boost in their pursuit of the Portuguese:

"According to Sport, Trincao’s exit this summer is a ‘real option’ given Barca’s ‘delicate economic situation’ with the club likely to listen to any ‘interesting’ offers for the 21-year-old, with suggestions that the winger is valued at around £29m.Wolves have also been credited with an interest in Trincao.Via Leicester Mercury"

Foxes of Leicester’s wanted man for Leicester City

If I had to nominate the wingman that I think Leicester should ideally and realistically attempt to sign this summer, it would have to be Allan Saint-Maximin of Newcastle United. Saint-Maximin is an absolutely devastating wideman who is near impossible to stop when dribbling, more often than not.

And, despite the Frenchman signing a six-year contract with the Magpies recently, FoL believes that the King Power club should possibly even break their own transfer record – buying Youri Tielemans for approximately £40 million – in trying to secure him. What a player!
