An influential Fox may be next in line to receive a new contract. Meanwhile a Leicester City starlet might leave the King Power club.

Marc Albrighton is likely to take the reigns as one of the senior influential squad players from probably exiting teammates such as Wes Morgan and Christian Fuchs next season. That is because the ageing pair are set to depart Filbert Way over the summer, giving the wingman status as a potential leader for Brendan Rodgers on the training ground and in the dressing room.

That is not to say that Albrighton doesn’t still positively affect proceedings on the pitch; the former Birmingham City man produced a superb cameo appearance in the FA Cup semi-final win over Southampton. And the 31-year-old may now have earned himself a new contract with the Foxes.

In addition, there is renewed talk of a special young talent at the club leaving soon. Sidnei Tavares’ deal is expiring and there is presumably a stand off over an increased wage/playing time to remain with the east Midlands team. Yet Football Insider claims RB Leipzig and Benfica “lead race to sign” the LCFC youngster.

Newcastle haven’t been great this season – the story of their modern lives under Mike Ashley – and against a mediocre Arsenal team on Sunday they were particularly ordinary and uninspiring. Rodgers’ men would love to gain victory in a fashion that is pleasant to the eye with lots of goals; nevertheless a win by any means shall please the Blue Army just as much.
