The FA-Cup triumph has added a ‘feel-good’ factor this season – even if Leicester City’s Champions League hopes hang by a thread after the latest defeat.

The Foxes created history last Saturday when they lifted their first ever FA-Cup, making Youri Tielemans immortal in the history books of the Midlands club. Around 6250 Leicester fans were present in the stadium to witness this “once in a lifetime moment”. Every player is to be appreciated for this huge achievement; if one is to be singled out for shielding the Foxes goal at the back, it has to be Jonny Evans.

There were question marks before the final against Chelsea over whether the Irishman would start at the heart of Leicester’s defence or not as he suffers from plantar fascitis: a stubborn inflammatory pathology in the sole of the foot.

However, battling through the pain like the true warrior he is, Evans managed to play the first half an hour in the game but could not continue due to the sheer pain in his leg. Brendan Rodgers prefers a back three of: Caglar Soyuncu, Evans and Wesley Fofana, because whenever they have started LCFC have not lost a single match and opponents find it tough to test Leicester’s goal.

With Brendan Rodgers’ team failing to get over the line at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, the team missed the defensive stalwart, not only due to his defensive agility though also due to his long range passes from defence. It was understandable that he would not be starting against Thomas Tuchel’s side as the game came too quickly for him and could not recover in time.

Although, according to the post-match interview following the 2-1 defeat at Chelsea’s patch, Rodgers does not expect Jonny Evans to play against Tottenham at KPS, which is a huge blow for Leicester and their conquest for Champions League.

"“He [Jonny Evans] is still sore. He’s unlikely for the weekend, so he’s probably played his last game”Reports Leicester Mercury"
