While Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers denounces any violent behaviour, he is happy with his Foxes side for their unity when being attacked or pushed by their Chelsea counterparts.

The game at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening must have been a particularly emotionally charged one, as the Foxes defeated the Pensioners to lift the FA Cup trophy at Wembley just three days prior to the Premier League contest.

Chances like Ayoze Perez’s slightly strange miss lead us to believe the Leicester team were well aware of the magnitude of the occasion. I mean, of course they knew, but I assume it is best for sportspeople of any level to compartmentalise and ignore implications: in order to achieve their most productive level of performance.

Unfortunately for LCFC, their destiny now rests in the control of Midlands rivals Aston Villa, as well as an underwhelming Crystal Palace outfit. Whilst the Villans may damage Chelsea’s chances of UCL, the Eagles are unlikely to get anything more than a drubbing from Liverpool.

Boss praises Leicester City unity

Another aspect of the 2-1 loss for Brendan Rodgers’ team which caught the eye for intensity, was a mass ‘brawl’ – although it was all talk, handbags and pushing to anyone who has been involved in a real scrap – which the Foxes manager spoke about followed the matchup.

Rodgers claimed he is proud of how his lads stood up for themselves and one another, following pushes from Chelsea personnel and staff. Additionally, the gaffer mentions the ‘little Leicester’ moniker with fervour:

"“I was proud of my team. Maybe we are little Leicester City but we are not going to turn up and roll over for anyone. So I was proud of the team that we stand up and fight and showed that mentality because that is what it takes to be a top team.“We were united and together. We saw team-mates getting pushed and the players stood up to that. Of course it is not what you want to see but I want my players to stick together on the field and we did that.”Via Daily Mail"
