Leicester: Barnes’ return date from injury to uplift Foxes
Leicester City are to receive a pre-season boost as wingman Harvey Barnes’ expected return date has been revealed. This will surely give the Foxes an uplift.
Obviously this is another hypothetical to bore you with: but surely Leicester would have attained at least another couple of points or a win if Barnes had made his comeback during the Premier League’s latter stage run-in! I mean, not many people of sound mind and football knowledge could disagree with that.
Maybe I should tweet my notion on Twitter to see how warm and accommodating the comments are from non-LCFC fans.
During parts of the campaign when the England international was fit, he was devastating on occasion. It’s true that there is still room for improvement with regards to the player’s final third decision-making along with under-pressure shooting. Though 16 goal involvements across the EPL and Europa League in 33 appearances is eye-catching form.
Barnes is now a force on the wing in the English top-flight and beyond; the Foxes academy graduate may well have been on Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions airplane. By the way, the gaffer isn’t the pilot, it was just a figure of speech… ‘lol’.
A solitary comfort we can take from Barnes’ injury towards the end of 2020/21 is that it makes it less likely the sharks – Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City et al – will attempt to procure the 23-year-old.
Pre-season boost for Leicester City as Harvey Barnes’ return date revealed
Surely a fit again Barnes will uplift a Foxes side for the off-season; apart from the FA Cup final triumph, really, the side was in need of elevation in certain attacking areas as the term expired. The Burnley-born man is due to return to friendly action in July, according to Daily Mail.
Naturally Brendan Rodgers’ current system – a 3-4-2-1 formation, generally – does not suit the former West Bromwich Albion starlet ideally. However, we can expect the manager to incorporate the wideman in any capacity he can; Barnes has played as a support striker and main centre-forward to mediocre reception once or twice.
