Leicester: Boubakary Soumare details, wages, medical, cost etc
Boubakary Soumare, a French U-21 International who has recently won Ligue 1 with Lille, is said to be very close to joining Leicester City.
The domestic season of 2020/21 came to a heartbreaking end as Leicester was defeated by Tottenham on the final day by a 4-2 scoreline. Falling out of the Champions League places yet again for two successive seasons is disappointing. However, Leicester have showcased that they learn from their mistakes to improve the next time.
This season should be classified as a great season even though the Foxes were not able to finish in the elite UCL qualifying positions – the FA-Cup trophy justifies that. Although, the hunger for success next season will continue; and for that aim, there are several places where Brendan Rodgers wants to improve upon.
Boubakary Soumare is on the precipice of switching to the club from Midlands. He played a major role in Lille’s recent success of dethroning PSG from finishing top of the domestic league in France.
According to the well-known transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, UCL qualification won’t be a problem in the deal to sign the French outfit’s middle man because personal terms had already been agreed since February. Now only little details are reportedly left to be sorted out. Various media outlets including Sky Sports has reported that the fee shall be in the region of £18 million. In addition, Wesley Fofana apparently played a major role in convincing his friend to join the Foxes.
Soumare, who had only one year left on his contract should be joining on a 5-year contract which will run until 2026. There has been no confirmed date for when the French youth international is to undergo his Leicester City medical; but Leicester Mercury have reported that it could be as soon as next week.
Nevertheless, the final details might take some time because of the U-21 Euros where the former Paris Saint-Germain trainee would be in contention for France, with the other rumoured target Odsonne Edouard.
