Leicester: Kelechi Iheanacho’s special bond with Wilfred Ndidi
Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho’s rise to Foxes favourite hasn’t been simple. Here he describes his special bond with fellow countryman Wilfred Ndidi.
If you are a fan of Leicester who follows the Foxes players closely, you will be aware that Nigerian compatriots Iheanacho and Ndidi are close friends as well as both being vital to the contemporary Leicester team.
Iheanacho says the pair formed a bond while playing with Nigeria’s Under-17 side; furthermore, the former Manchester City man claims the ex-Genk midfielder cheers him up and leaves him constantly laughing:
"“Most importantly during my trying times, he really helped me a lot, he talks to me and he is always there, in training and at home…“He said he wasn’t surprised that I’m scoring goals because he always believed it was going to happen. He is really a good friend of mine.”– Kelechi Iheanacho, via LCFC Live"
Recently Iheanacho spoke of the difficulties that aggressive criticism or booing in stadia causes professional footballers. Encouragingly, the attacker confirmed that his faith helped him through the worse era, and that he’ll continue working had for LCFC. Good man!
Leicester City Pre-season information
As you know, there is no LCFC football for at least the month of June, bad times. Yet in July there should be a flurry of Leicester friendlies as the days go by, good times! Most pre-seasons see the Foxes play around four or five non-competitive games prior to the campaign proper.
Usually the run culminates in a fairly high profile final practice matchup before starting the new term; sides such as Real Madrid have appeared at King Power Stadium for those clashes, but Borussia Monchengladbach have also been a recent selection for the exhibition outing.
Thankfully for the east Midlands club, Harvey Barnes is expected to return from injury as well as to fitness, to feature for Leicester. This will surely provide an uplift as the Foxes prepare for a third time lucky Champions League qualification in 2021/22.
