Leicester City: 3 Ideal signings for the Foxes ahead of 2021/22
By James Bishop
Nick Pope:
This is probably the most controversial opinion, but I did say exactly the same thing this time last year. Whilst Kasper Schmeichel has saved Leicester City on a number of occasions and was one of the main reasons for his side winning the FA Cup, however few can deny the high profile mistakes he has made and his distribution is a huge problem for Brendan Rodgers’ style of play.
Nick Pope isn’t blessed with passing ability. However, he is no worse than Kasper and in my opinion is a better all-round keeper, when you look at shot stopping, catching crosses and commanding his area, whilst being 5 years younger.
Being a keeper for Burnley means you have to be an incredible keeper to keep them afloat in the Premier League. Having 30% possession and facing double figure attempts in every game leads to him being top or near the top of the ‘Most saves’ table.
Schmeichel still is a fantastic goalkeeper but planning for the future is key, just like it is with Vardy. Lack of planning leads to panic buying and failing to replace a player, just like the club are still doing with Riyad Mahrez 3 years later!
