After the fracas occurring on the touchline during Leicester City’s league tie against Chelsea at the Bridge, punishment was inevitable. What the penalty would be, however, was a matter of debate up till today. Following the large-scale brawl involving substitutes and players alike, there was talk of points deductions and large fines.

Brendan Rodgers said he was ‘proud of his side for how they stood up for Ricardo, despite the ill-tempers being outside legal parameters. Such fighting brings back memories of the famous ‘Battle of the Bridge’ in 2016 which won Leicester City the league title.

Despite Chelsea having been penalised for ‘failing to control players’ seven times in as many years, the FA did not see fit to deduct points. Therefore, both LCFC and Chelsea have been fined £22,500. This is a significant sum for most, yet for a Premier League side, it is little more than spare change.

With the Blues securing UCL through winning the Champions League, wouldn’t an extra English team be beneficial to all parties? This is in jest, as if such thoughts were carried out in practice, this may damage the integrity of the competition. Furthermore, would it really sit right with Foxes fans if LCFC were to enter into Europe’s premier competition by such means?

With the season now over, the Premier League end of season awards are now in and you can vote for Leicester in some of these. Whilst Wesley Fofana was unfortunate to be left out of the reckoning for young POTS, Brendan Rodgers has been nominated for Manager of the Season. Therefore, go and support your Foxes gaffer regardless of whether you think he deserves the award or not.

Furthermore, on the awards front, Leicester City loanee Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall picked up several awards at Luton Town. These included the Junior Supporter’s player of the year and the most man of the match awards along with two other trophies. Clearly, he has been performing well in the Championship and deserves a chance in Rodger’s side next season. Hopefully, he can bring back a creative spark and drive to perform into a revitalised LCFC side.
