Leicester City want to sign a proven striker this summer, we know this. With Tammy Abraham set to leave Chelsea – will the Foxes pounce?

While Brendan Rodgers has previously suggested strikers with fairly imposing, towering physiques are not ideal for his system, it would be wrong to categorise Abraham in that respect. He has so much more to offer than a basic, even elite target man: the Chelsea goalscorer is much faster than some fans realise, is an intelligent player who recognises teammates that possess the skills to enable his game to flourish.

Along with this, the player is a natural finisher who is still proficient in the air which fulfills the slightly archaic view that all tall attackers are only good for heading. In the modern game, certainly at Premier League level, merely being aerially efficient is too one-dimensional.

Essentially what I am saying is that Abraham would most likely be a successfully versatile addition to the Leicester ranks and would assimilate into, or heighten Rodgers’ already flexible style of play. As we’ve all seen with Nigerian star Kelechi Iheanacho, the Northern Irishman has a knack of getting the best from struggling, misfiring or misused hitmen. Even going so far as to alter the formation to include Iheanacho in a two-forward setup.

Will Leicester City attempt to sign Tammy Abraham?

Irrespective of whether the youthful England international would suit the Foxes or not, the east Midlands team may not even bid for him. Especially as they are apparently already negotiating with Odsonne Edouard of Celtic, or his representatives.

Nevertheless, a recent report has seemingly opened the door for potential concrete LCFC interest. If Foxes of Leicester must guess, the cheaper option of Edouard will probably join the King Power side eventually.

According to Express, the Blues asset, who has just lifted the Champions League trophy under Thomas Tuchel, is unwanted at Stamford Bridge and is expected to leave Chelsea this summer:
