Leicester City’s academy is full of individually impressive talents. One such player is Thanawat Suengchitthawon. Here is the latest on this midfielder.

On Thursday night – 3rd June 2021 – Leicester City’s Thanawat Suengchittawon featured in his debut for Thailand against Indonesia in the Asian World Cup qualifier rounds. The impressive talent put in a solid performance.

Leicester City has another attacking talent

The Thai attacking midfielder transferred to the Foxes academy after a successful time at French club AS Nancy. The 21-year-old was desparate to Join Leicester, and rejected a youth contract from AS Nancy to join up with the King Power side.

He has played in three positions across his professional career, mostly taking the attacking-midfield role similar to that of James Maddison. Occasionally, Suengchittawon has performed on the wings in a 4-4-2.

According to Sofascore, Suengchittawon has been a progressive passing beast for the U23s, and has cemented his rise and incoming Premier League debut with an all-round impressive performance for the Thai national team.

During that match, Sofascore estimate he played a full 90 minutes, accumulating 63 passes – most being progressive – and six crosses. With an 83% pass accuracy, though falling to 30% with crosses, the midfielder proved himself against tough opposition.

The Leicester youth player also proved to be strong in holding onto the ball, with three successful dribbles out of three. Suengchittawon will still need to improve in this regard, as his development squad performances have shown, but he has already developed greatly.

I expect the attacking midfielder will go on loan next season to a League One or Championship club to get consistent senior first team football. Suengchittawon already has the talent and technique to play, but will need experience.

There will be tough competition for the youngster, as the Foxes continue to plot transfer moves for attacking and defensive talents in the transfer market. I believe he will improve enough to warrant an eventual senior team debut.

The Thai man will need to hone his physicality, improve his long balls, and gain consistency in his performances before he gets his debut at the King Power. Though he was named as a senior substitute versus Manchester City this season. Expect a similar progression to the fan-favourite Keirnan Dewsbury-Hall.
