Leicester news: Christian Fuchs announces new club after Foxes
More Leicester City news for you after a busy weekend, as Christian Fuchs announces that he’s joined a new club since leaving the Foxes.
After a wonderful six-year spell at Leicester, veteran fullback Christian Fuchs has left the Foxes for pastures new. They are very new in fact, with the former Austria captain switching countries.
The Fuchs family already had a family home in America, New York as far as we are aware, and that is why Christian was itching to go transatlantic for some time. It appears to be a twilight-footballer’s paradise in USA. Along with some great weather and fascinating landscape, who wouldn’t want to play at any level there?!
Fuchs has joined Charlotte Football Club, from North Carolina. Charlotte FC is a new expansion side in the MLS which is about to enjoy its inaugural campaign in the States. In a social media post on Sunday, the Austrian revealed his free transfer and how he is looking forward to the fresh start in ‘Queen City’.
In addition, the club explained that the Premier League title-winner signed a one-year contract with a view to a second term.
Prior to playing for LCFC, Fuchs played for Bundesliga outfits VfL Bochum, FSV Mainz 05 and FC Schalke 04 before joining Leicester where he became somewhat of a household name for football fans, certainly around Europe.
Leicester City says auf wiedersehen
‘No Fuchs given’ is Fuch’s slogan attributed by the player and Foxes supporters to honour his carefree approach to life and the game – this time Fuchs were given. Upon leaving the King Power team, the defender gave a message:
"“It turned out to be the best decision in my career to join Leicester.“What followed were the best years of my career. Not only because of the major trophies we won, the odds we defeated and the amazing games we played, I found friends for life.“I have, and always will be a part of, a greater family. The Leicester City family.”– Christian Fuchs, via Leicester Mercury"
