Leicester: Report of Tielemans in transfer talks with Liverpool disputed
Leicester City fans can hopefully rest easy again, until after the Euro2020 tournament at least, as a report stating Youri Tielemans is in talks with Liverpool has been disputed.
If you have heard this distressing rumour, you have my sympathies. You should reciprocate by feeling empathy with me as a fellow Foxes supporter who loves Tielemans, too.
You see, a Danish journalist named Daniel Nielson claims that the Belgian, or his representation, are discussing a possible move to the Anfield club with Liverpool’s recruitment department.
In addition to this surprising ‘update’, Nielson suggests the valuation from the King Power club is “too high” for the Reds. However, the reporter then says LFC “will” negotiate a lower fee with Leicester. This despite the latter side not needing to sell and being in a powerful position of strength, according to Khun Top Srivaddhanaprabha, the Foxes chairman.
Furthermore, Nielson states the Merseyside team will sell some of their lesser players, or “deadwood”, this summer in order to capture the Fox.
Scarily for the Blue Army, the final claim – apart from other outfits apparently being interested – is that Tielemans is said to be happy to join Liverpool. And that a contract will therefore be no issue for a supposed deal.
Foxes of Leicester’s thoughts on Leicester City claim
Basically, we at FoL are not convinced that this is true: firstly, the rumour hasn’t been widely covered; secondly, the fact that two fairly reputable outlets have disputed it; thirdly, Tielemans has professed his happiness at LCFC in recent times.
