Leicester City player Matty James has been released from the club on a free after nine years. Here are the clubs interested in the experienced midfielder.

After nine years with Leicester City, the former Manchester United youth product will be leaving the King Power and heading for new pastures in the Championship.

From title winner to a massive injury, the former Fox never looked like forcing his way back into Brendan Rodgers’ plans for next season. Even after two great loan spells with Barnsley and Coventry City, he has not been given another chance.

One of Leicester City’s legends

Matty James was signed up by fan-favourite Nigel Pearson and provided the cover and backbone for the Foxes return to the Premier League. With N’golo Kante and Danny Drinkwater, James was cover during the title-winning season.

Nevertheless, he aided Leicester in winning the Premier League. He suffered a major injury which side-lined him for a prolonged period of time. Meanwhile, Wilfred Ndidi, Papy Mendy, and Hamza Choudhury joined the senior team.

Though he was not able to get back into the side, James will now get plenty of great suitors. As reported by WalesOnline, Bristol City, Swansea City, and Cardiff City are all interested in bringing the experienced midfielder into their sides.

Foremost amongst them is currently led by Nigel Pearson: Bristol City. He would once more provide very strong cover in midfield, and Person will hope he will bring the winning mentality needed to develop ‘the Robins’.

Swansea City are eyeing him as a Matt Grimes replacement should the English CDM be brought by a Premier League club, following his fantastic season in the Championship. Grimes has been outstanding, and will be hoping he has impressed scouts.

Cardiff City are also interested, though they are unlikely to lose any players, and James would not likely force his way into that side. Do not expect to see this move happen.

With the King Power outfit preparing to make plenty of signings this season, with midfield depth, a new striker, and a Christian Fuchs replacement being the priorities, it seems there was no space to give the legend another shot.
