According to multiple trustworthy journalists, Leicester City’s pursuit of Celtic forward Odsonne Edouard has cooled. The Foxes have subsequently switched their attention to Red Bull Salzburg striker Patson Daka.

If you thought Leicester’s quest for a new striker this summer was already decided with Odsonne Edouard, it appears you were wrong. Had you then expected Patson Daka to join after major transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano claimed the ‘deal was done’, it seems that negotiation may also not yet be settled.

Hopefully one of the attackers arrives at King Power Stadium for the pre-season schedule as the Foxes prepare for another challenging and hopefully brilliant campaign. 2020/21 would have been an even better term if Brendan Rodgers’ team managed to secure Champions League football for 2021/22, yet it remains successful.

However, RB Salzburg are yet to accept a bid for Daka, according to journalist Constantin Eckner who is based in Berlin. Eckner seems to indicate Romano or others had spoken too soon with regard to the move – which the former states is still likely.

While Edouard’s switch to England supposedly fell through because Leicester are unwilling to meet the £25 million valuation. In addition, Paris Saint-Germain will receive a percentage of any sale fee, which is why Celtic require a higher price:

"It’s claimed that Paris Saint-Germain have a 40 per cent sell-on clause in the deal that took the striker to Parkhead, pushing his fee higher despite having just one year left on his deal.Via Daily Record"

Leicester City scout departs

Leicester scout Jose Fontes will apparently join Jose Mourinho’s Roma after departing Filbert Way; Fontes confirmed on Twitter that he is leaving. Website Football Italia say the former Portuguese Foxes staff member will become the Italian club’s chief scout. The former came to Leicestershire in 2016; meanwhile, Mourinho was relieved of duty at Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the past season. There is more on the story here.
