Boost for Leicester in attempt to retain Youri Tielemans
The previous Premier League season is behind us and fans already look forward to the new beginning. The centre of attraction in the transfer window of the past month for Leicester City has been Youri Tielemans, who also was the main focus in the May as the Foxes lifted their maiden FA cup at Wembley.
Numerous clubs have been linked with an interest in the Belgian International, such as Liverpool, Manchester United and lately Juventus. The Foxes have been praised uncountable times for their excellent transfer policy as they have adjusted magnificently after the departures of the big names like Harry Maguire and Ben Chilwell, to name a but few.
But this time around, LCFC seem determined to keep Tielemans and are trying their best to fend off the interest from other clubs. The club as well as the fans see him leading the team in the future and also a key face at the King Power Stadium.
With so many clubs wanting the Belgium midfielder, the strongest interest has been said to be that of Liverpool; Jurgen Klopp’s is keen to replace Gini Wijnaldum in the heart of their midfield. Several articles have been circulating in the media about this topic.
Recently a Q/A held by Liverpool echo with their journalist Paul Gorst fascinated the east Midlands side’s faithful. When asked if there was any truth in a possible switch for Tielemans to the red part of Merseyside, Gorst replied:
"“I believe [Florian] Neuhaus is a much more realistic prospect, yes. Leicester are likely to demand £60-70m plus, at a guess. I imagine they have no intention of selling their FA Cup-winning hero. He’s [Tielemans is] a top player though, isn’t he?”Reported by Leicester Mercury"
Brendan Rodgers’ team aspires to continue fighting for the elite spots against the “big clubs” and for that to happen they need to keep their star players, starting with Tielemans. With the imminent arrivals of Boubakary Soumare and Patson Daka pending, the team in blue hopes to achieve their longtime dream of being back in the Champions League and lifting silverware on the way.
