Foxes of Leicester provides the usual transfer rumours along with our opinions, as Leicester City and fans are delivered a Philippe Coutinho update.

Can you envision the Foxes signing Philippe Coutinho permanently at the moment? No – me neither, for a plethora of reasons: firstly his wages are extortionate unless you’re currently shining star, which he isn’t. He has it in the locker but has had a tough few years in my opinion. Then there is the presumption that he sees himself at an elite side; Leicester challenge the major clubs around the world but unfortunately are not one.

However, after reading those drawbacks, you’ll hopefully still arrive at the conclusion I have: a loan could be the perfect move for both parties. Reigniting the Brazilian‘s career is a feasible eventuality, along with pushing LCFC further up the supposed hierarchy of global football. All whilst helping the east Midlands outfit realise its ambition.

Interestingly, as carried and explained in a report by Leicestershire Live, Coutinho is available on a temporary basis and apparently with potentially reduced wages:

"According to Sport, a move to Leicester is one of three ‘options’ for Coutinho with City looking to take the player on a season-long loan. The report claims that Coutinho has a ‘priority’ of one day returning to the Premier League, which puts City in a good position– Amie Wilson"

Joao Palhinha, currently with the Portugal side and Cristiano Ronaldo at Euro2020, is apparently on the Foxes’ transfer radar, too. Incidentally Palhinha could prospectively form a great trio at Leicester alongside fellow compatriots Coutinho and Ricardo Pereira.

The defensive-midfielder was fairly impressive as a substitute for a Selecao – “the Selection” in English, a rather strange but obvious nickname for the selected national team – against France in the thrilling draw last week in the final group game.

Sport Witness subsequently notes that speculation in Spain once again links the King Power side, as well as Midlands rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers. €30 million is Palhinha’s apparent valuation; yet I can assure you that the Blue Army would rather retain Wilfred Ndidi as the main man in the role.
