3 Extra Leicester-linked players who’d be great signings
By James Bishop
The transfer silly season is well under way, with incredible rumours hitting the newspapers that have no chance of happening, like Leicester City signing a winger for example.
However, the Foxes are poised to complete the signing of Patson Daka from Red Bull Salzburg and are also close with the signings of Ryan Bertrand of Southampton and Boubakary Soumaré of Lille.
Daka, who scored 34 goals in 42 games for the Austrian champions last season, will be looking to compete with Jamie Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho for a place in Brendan Rodgers’ attack. Bertrand meanwhile will be brought in to fill the void at left back left by Christian Fuchs.
Youri Tielemans and Caglar Soyuncyu have been linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium and James Maddison is reportedly interesting Arsenal, which will certainly raise the eyebrows of Rodgers and John Rudkin.
It’s attacking players that Leicester really need however with Harvey Barnes being the only out and out winger at the club, and creativity letting the team down on a number of occasions. With that in mind We’ve picked three players that have been previously linked with the Foxes that would make great signings!
Odsonne Edouard
It is no surprise to see City being heavily linked with the Frenchman having played under Rodgers for nearly 2 years at Celtic. It’s also not surprising given that this transfer has been touted for the last couple of windows.
Reports suggest that a deal to see him move to the club could be close, with City favourites to complete the deal after reports over the weekend.
The 23 Year-old has scored 62 goals for the Scottish giants and has become the main man since Dembele left a couple of years ago.
Edouard does look set for an exit after a disappointing season for Celtic but it has been claimed that negotiations between the player and City have ‘stalled’.
The signing would be great for the club with the Forward able to play across any front positions, whilst being an established striker to challenge Vardy and Iheanacho.
Ivan Toney – 6/1
Toney is another striker who has been linked with a move to City this summer. The Brentford striker was nothing short of sensational last season as he helped Brentford to the Premier League after beating Swansea City in the Championship play-off final last month.
He scored 32 Championship goals last season and is said to be available for around £35 million.
The price might be a stretch given the other business the club is about to make, however, with other clubs in an around the Foxes chomping at Brentford’s bit, Leicester might be pushed to sign the 25-Year old before they lose their chance.
City are third-favourites for the striker, behind Brighton and West Ham.
Matheus Pereira
The East midlanders were said to be at the ‘front of the queue’ for the West Bromwich Albion winger, which was a blessed belief because they have been looking for a left footed winger ever since Riyad Mahrez left. However, Leicester City are now fourth favourites to complete a move having been second at one point, with Leeds United and Norwich City both fancied to seal a deal.
He impressed in the Premier League this season, with 11 goals and 6 assists, meaning he is likely to stay in the top divisions in Europe, despite the Baggies’ relegation. I suspect no one will be happy with the recruitment team if Pereira moves to a lower mid table side, rather than the Foxes, so please make it happen.
