Leicester City have been given a significant injury boost ahead of the 2021/22 season, as Timothy Castagne should be fit.

Foxes of Leicester are very pleased to bring you an update on the Belgium international today. First of all it appears that Castagne won’t be ruled out for as long as expected and may even be available for the start of pre-season, as per Leicestershire Live.

The former Atalanta right-back was injured badly in a headed collision against Russia at Euro2020 and sustained multiple fractures. Yet he has now returned to basic training; though he is not thought to be ready to feature again for Roberto Martinez’s team at the tournament.

In other Castagne news, the Belgian has finally got himself a nickname; the name Timothy doesn’t give many options to be honest. Despite being a fairly dynamic player who’ll always challenge for 50/50s and who never shy away from an aerial duel – as we know from his horror facial injuries – ‘Timo’, as the Red Devils side call him, is quite a quiet seeming footballer. He isn’t one of the rambunctious souls off the field, although he is apparently a joker.

Those more retiring types are never as quick to receive a moniker as guys such as Jamie Vardy, or ‘Vards’, and Madders, or James Maddison. One thing Timo must do is continue to impose himself in games: James Justin will be returning at some stage and I had him down as a standout Premier League left-back last year – so they’ll essentially be competing for a place.

In all seriousness, Castagne is a great attacking defender and I for one am delighted he’s recovering well. I also can’t wait to see him next season; while he enjoyed a very decent initial campaign with the Foxes, the very mature seeming 25-year-old was mildly inconsistent. It feels as though the upcoming 2021/22 EPL term could be his true breakout one.
