Leicester City may now receive interest in title-winning wingman Marc Albrighton. But the Foxes should sell a different attacker, Ayoze Perez.

Leicester paid over £30million for Ayoze Perez two years ago today. Now, I know that amount isn’t a lot relatively with contemporary Premier League spending or comparatively with huge transfers in the hundreds of millions. Nevertheless, for a club the size of LCFC, that switch was a hugely significant investment.

And, in all honesty, Perez hasn’t lived up to that fee; the move has actually been unsuccessful as Perez constantly struggles to retain a starting place on Filbert Way. To be fair he hasn’t deserved to begin games for Brendan Rodgers’ team; the boss generally has better options and could’ve been giving chances to youthful wingers instead of using the former Newcastle United man out-of-position on the right.

Next. Is Berardi a likely signing at Leicester?. dark

When the Spaniard was used as a No.10, a support forward or second striker, he was better. Though the standard, intensity and productivity still didn’t justify the Perez-pricetag. In fact, when utilised by Rodgers, the Foxes fans were much happier with legendary winger Marc Albrighton in the side.

Unfortunately Albrighton plays less and less these days as he ages, yet he is still an important squad player. Furthermore, the ex-Birmingham midfielder is now reportedly the subject of interest from EPL outfit Burnley.

However, if I had a say in incoming and outgoing personnel, I would suggest LCFC keep Albrighton and sell Perez. However, only if they can find a buyer for at least two thirds of his fee, £20m.
