After half a season of not much to sing about. 2020/2021 was threatening to turn into another season to forget for Kelechi Iheanacho. But then it all clicked into place and one of the most amazing turnarounds in a Leicester shirt was written into the history books. With a new contract signed and expectations higher, what now for Iheanacho at the King Power Stadium?

Kelechi Iheanacho, Leicester City statistics

Appearances total: – 39 / Premier League –25 / FA Cup – 6 / Europa League – 7  / EFL Cup – 1

Goals total: – 19

Moment to savour: – “COME ON!!!!!”

Moment to forget: – A penalty miss and poor display at Selhurst Park

Harvey Barnes hard-fought equaliser at a cold Selhurst Park in December was treated with equal amounts of relief and disappointment. Nothing to do with the rising star of the young Englishman who had only two days earlier scored a splendid goal against Manchester United. It was more to do with the misfiring Nigerian up front who was struggling to fill in whenever Jamie Vardy required a rest. A poor penalty miss and a reasonably easy header missed from six yards out were damning. The headline from this game was that Iheanacho just wasn’t working at Leicester City and with his contract up in 2022, pastures new were probably calling.
