Iheanacho was key in helping the foxes knock Manchester United out of the FA Cup with an opportunist brace of goals, which led to a heartwarming Mothers day tribute and a memorable ‘COME ON!!” to the BBC cameras. To see the joy etched on his face at his football skills and quality coming through and being the main man for goals was joyful. Who knows how loud he screamed when he received the Premier League’s coveted Premier League Player Of The Month for March.

Most importantly, Kelechi didn’t stop there scoring a further seven goals before the end of the season, including some stunning finishes at West Ham and my personal favourite at home to Crystal Palace. The most crucial one was his FA Cup semi-final winning goal that put Leicester into their first FA Cup final for over 50 years. Even though his final appearance was quieter than we’d got used to, he had arguably done more than any other Leicester City player to get them there and earn his medal.

Even more significantly, with a tally of 19 goals in all competitions, he had wrestled the club crown of top scorer from Jamie Vardy for the first time in 6 seasons. In many ways, Vardy may have enjoyed this more than anyone, now knowing that he doesn’t need to be relied on to score the crucial goals.

Iheanacho played a crucial part in securing a fifth-place finish and winning a trophy, without his goals a strong argument could be made that Leicester City would have been further down the table and without a trophy. His contribution this season shouldn’t be diminished by misguided opinions about the first half of the season where he barely featured (nor for that matter earlier seasons – where he was barely used). Because of this, his season should be considered to be not that far off an eventual player of the season Youri Tielemans.

I for one, can’t wait to get back to the stadium next season and cheer on the man now affectionately labelled by his teammates as ‘Seniorman’. Kelechi has proved he is an inspirational character and sustained immense self-belief when other players without his mental strength would have fallen by the wayside. He has embodied the spirit and mantra that Leicester City fans hold dear to their heart. Foxes Never Quit!
