Leicester: Agent Wesley Fofana assisted Boubakary Soumare signing
After weeks of anticipation, Leicester City announced the signing of French U21 midfielder Boubakary Soumare. It seems ‘agent’ Wesley Fofana was involved.
Brendan Rodgers stated long ago that his transfer policy was to bring in winners. Players who have tasted victory and will fight to continue their careers in that vein.
Thus far, Leicester City have brought in Patson Daka – league winner with RB Salzburg – Boubakary Soumare – Ligue 1 winner with LOSC Lille – and Ryan Bertrand – a winner with Chelsea and a great player for Southampton.
The deal for Boubakary Soumare was completed weeks ago, with his medical completed in France to avoid covid restrictions causing issues. It may have taken a while, but Soumare was certainly persuaded.
Leicester City’s new transfer agent Wesley Fofana
As reported by LeicestershireLive, Soumare chose to make the switch to the King Power after talks with his close friend and fellow French U21 International, Wesley Fofana.
Wesley Fofana was the star signing of last season. Everyone wanted James Tarkowski, and instead we got a French wonderkid who has proven himself at the highest level of football consistently.
His development at Leicester under Brendan Rodgers inspired Soumare. Young and in need of development himself, Soumare saw Rodgers’ relationship with young players, and the Foxes track record of development, as his main deciding factor.
In fact, Fofana and Soumare spoke about the coaching, the players, the manager, and the environment around the Foxes. According to Soumare himself, Fofana had nothing but positive vibes and stories to share. From the players he gets along with to the coaching which has helped him progress so quickly. Soumare wants in on the action.
So, When the new midfielder joins the King Power side for training, he will find himself with a close friend, a positive squad, and vibrant talent waiting to be unleashed. He will also know he will be given plenty of opportunities on the pitch.
My only request to ‘Little Wes’ would be to continue tapping up the French U21 side, including his fellow centre-backs. That would be much appreciated.
