Leicester are in the chase for Philippe Coutinho amid more updates
Leicester City are reportedly one of three clubs involved in the chase for Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho amid more transfer updates about the Brazilian.
Foxes of Leicester’s assessment on the possibility of signing Coutinho a couple of years or so ago is very different from our verdict these days. Essentially, the Foxes are now well-known and consistent enough European guests to attract the world’s best, but only if said stars need reinventing or a big boost to their careers. LCFC are not going to capture the Erling Haaland’s of football, but you get the gist.
If there is a link between club and an prospective addition, such as the manager and player having a good relationship previously, then chances increase further. That fact, and possibly a supplemented salary, means a player of Coutinho’s stature joining the King Power team is more likely than ever.
Obviously Leicester’s top class facilities also create a good selling point for potential signings as well, regardless of the Champions League failure. In the case of Coutinho it appears Barca actually want him off the wage bill at Camp Nou; although reports suggest Leicester, AC Milan or Inter Milan may approve a loan for the playmaker:

Jose Mourinho’s new team pinch renowned Leicester City scout
Successful Leicester scout Jose Fontes, who is famed for helping the Foxes acquire Harry Maguire, James Maddison, Youri Tielemans and Caglar Soyuncu, has been snapped up by compatriot Jose Mourinho and his new Roma side. Fontes is one of five talent spotters to join the former Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Porto and Inter Milan boss.
Other ex-staff of the east Midlands side also have mega credibility among peers and supporters. One such man is Steve Walsh – not the former Leicester defender and captain, another person by that name – who supposedly oversaw the Riyad Mahrez, Jamie Vardy and N’golo Kante transfers.
