Leicester City and Belgium defender Timothy Castagne sustained a horror injury at Euro2020. Yet Foxes fans can hope he is to be fit sooner rather than later.

The Euros have been a good watch for Foxes supporter for the most part, as the participation in the competition has been more than ever. There have been some pretty exciting moments in the tournament for Leicester fans and some rough ones too. Kasper Schmeichel leading Denmark all the way to semi-finals but losing is a big example of that.

While Timothy Castagne suffering that horrific injury is an evidence of the harsher moments. In a group match against Russia, the Belgian international collided in a massive impact with Daler Kuzyaev and was rushed to the hospital immediately.

The Belgium camp later confirmed that the Leicester fullback had suffered six orbital fractures near his eye socket, hence the lump near his eye when he left the field in agony. The seriousness of the injury could be known by the fact that had the injury been three centimetres high, it might have ended Castagne’s career because of the brain damage it would have caused.

"“Our team doctor immediately made the comparison with Kevin De Bruyne, only this was even worse. Once I realised my tournament was over, I collapsed for a moment. I think the medical staff immediately realised that it was very bad, but it only really dawned on me in the hospital in St Petersburg. Until that moment I hadn’t seen my face in a mirror either. But apparently you could really see that part of the eye socket was dented from the impact”Said Castagne in an interview with HLN, reports Leicester Mercury."

The good news regarding this scenario is that his surgery has been a successful one and the LCFC faithful can expect the former Atalanta man to be available for the pre- season training. However, you might see him playing with a face mask in the upcoming months sheerly as a precaution regarding his major injury.
