Leicester’s Ayoze Perez should be sold to fund a proper winger

There are only one or two mistakes the excellent Leicester City manager is making: one is detrimental zonal marking on set-pieces, the other is having faith in Ayoze Perez.

I don’t want to appear to be unfairly targeting or scapegoating Perez in this article, the aim is merely to objectively point out, discuss and resolve any remaining problems in the Leicester team. And, unfortunately for the Spaniard, he is the only question mark in the starting line-up.

Basically, as a winger in particular, Perez is insufficient; he is more proficient as a central or support striker, though chances in those positions and roles in the upcoming season are slim to none. Only injury in the LCFC forward line would provide the former Newcastle United man with an opportunity in his favoured area.

In Foxes of Leicester‘s view, the most suitable move for Perez and the Foxes would be his sale. A loan with an option to buy is another possible way of fulfilling the María Jiménez, Spain-born player’s potential.

Everton were recently linked with a possible interest with Perez, yet that seemed tentatively related to Rafa Benitez’s arrival at Goodison Park. Surely Steve Bruce’s Newcastle would love to have their onetime Magpie home. If either boss witnessed the former’s appearance versus Queens Park Rangers, they may have been discouraged.

It is crucial for Leicester’s continued progress as well as development as a club to employ an efficient wingman on the right flank, if Brendan Rodgers’ system allows or necessitates. Harvey Barnes is a star on the left – now the right-side finally needs appropriately attending to! If acquiring takes sales, FoL’s recommendation is Perez.
