Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has provided a fairly positive injury update on emerging Foxes star James Justin, following an ACL disaster.

During the first part of the 2020/21 season I’ll admit, as an LCFC analyst, I wasn’t wholly convinced at Justin’s prowess. Obviously a youthful athlete suddenly jumping two divisions to the elite level cannot be instantly judged – for good or bad, yet he was a work in progress.

As the campaign developed, so did the former Luton Town man, quickly – excuse the pun – Justin became one of the standout fullbacks in the entire Premier League. So much so that a senior England call-up was mooted; Gareth Southgate, the Three Lions boss, actually mentioned the defender as a potential addition who was sadly injured.

Following a major anterior cruciate ligament problem, Justin was ruled out of the several remaining months of the term. Thankfully the rapid 23-year-old may be returning sooner than expected:

"“James [Justin] is progressing really well. He’s doing a lot of strength-based work on his leg. He looks great. He just needs that little bit of time. There was maybe talk of around October or November for him so we’ll see how that goes.”– Brendan RodgersVia LCFC Live"

Leicester City’s upcoming fixtures as season begins

On Wednesday, August 4, the east Midlands outfit have their final friendly encounter before the season proper starts. Villarreal will be welcomed to King Power Stadium in a practice capacity, prior to the Charity Shield versus Manchester City on Saturday, August 7.

Following those two matches, the English top-flight gets underway with a home clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers a week later, which is August 14. Wolves have a new manager, former Benfica boss Bruno Lage, and their players will be out to impress him, therefore it won’t be a simple contest to win for the Foxes.
