Following the horrible injury to Wesley Fofana, Leicester City are currently considering signing one or more of these five centre-backs.

I’m sure if you’re reading this you’re most likely a Foxes supporter and will therefore obviously be aware that Wesley Fofana faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines. There is more on that situation here.

Moving on, this has apparently resulted a major alteration to Leicester’s transfer objective: a central defender is now the priority, at the expense of the still absolutely vacant right-wing. That is, of course, despite the best intentions and efforts of Ayoze Perez.

While Daniel Amartey made his name with the fan base following an necessarily assuring display at the back for Brendan Rodgers against Manchester City in the Community Shield triumph on Saturday afternoon. Though, in spite of that offering from the Ghanaian, in Foxes of Leicester’s view he is inadequate to play for half a season as a first choice centre-back. Amartey needs to be used as, or reverted back to, a secondary defender in case of emergency.

Secondly, Filip Benkovic is not ready for the Premier League according to Rodgers’ appraisal a while ago. However, the Northern Irishman praised the Croat for recent defensive performances during pre-season. Yet Benkovic’s substitute slot versus Man City is revealing. So which player(s) should the east Midlands team sign?
