Leicester City are currently linked with a possible loan move for Bayern Munich centre-back Chris Richards. This is a decent temporary transfer for the Foxes.

Brendan Rodgers has an obvious problem on his hands now, with defender and leader Jonny Evans out of action until at least after September’s international break. Compounding the major issue in defence for the Northern Irish Foxes manager is the fact that Wesley Fofana is also injured – and badly, unfortunately.

At first it was expected that Fofana could return by the busy winter period, however, those hopes were dashed as further scans revealed more damage than early prognosis. The Frenchman isn’t going to make his LCFC comeback until 2022. Which is a minor disaster for the east Midlands team who needed a back-up centre-back – and are now desperate for a starting man in the middle to partner Caglar Soyuncu.

Daniel Amartey is more of a utility or understudy type, despite his Community Shield heroics versus Manchester City. Therefore a central defensive signing will almost certainly arrive by the time the transfer window shuts at the end of the month.

Leicester City target loan which is satisfactory

Bayern Munich CB Chris Richards is a man supposedly on Leicester’s wishlist; Richards is an American currently in Germany. He can play at left-back and right-back, too, which gives him that versatility status valued highly in the Premier League. Not to mention a pedigree of featuring for Bayern in the Champions League on more than one occasion.

Richards is still developing as a player, hence the temporary move to Hoffenheim in 2020/21. Though he is back at Allianz Arena during this off-season, a departure from der FCB is forecasted.

Independent claim Rodgers’ recruitment staff are lining up a loan swoop for the 21-year-old, a decision Foxes of Leicester supports. If Richards ends up as a Ryan Bennett-esque player, at least LCFC haven’t signed him permanently, hypothetically. Though another quality CB should also be bought as soon as possible.
