2020/2021 will be seen as a success for Daniel Amartey. His horrific broken ankle was the unfortunate footnote of a tragic night in October 2018 following the helicopter crash that will forever be etched into Leicester’s history.

The Ghanaian returned to the Leicester City lineup nearly two years later in an unforgettable 5-2 win at Manchester City, typically that comeback was curtailed by a hamstring injury following the next game and once again he was put on the sidelines before returning at Spurs.

Amartey performed well in key wins through the season, earning 90 minutes at home to Liverpool and crucially scoring an unlikely winning goal at Brighton. As the season wore on he found his opportunities more limited. But with an excellent centre-back performance in the Community Shield win, Amartey could find he is needed even more in 21/22.
