A Leicester City star is said to be on the precipice of signing a new contract with the Foxes. Renewing Harvey Barnes’ deal is an indication of their aspirations.

For Leicester to retain all but one of their stars – let’s say Youri Tielemans, James Maddison, Harvey Barnes, Wilfred Ndidi and Wesley Fofana – this summer would be an almost identical eventuality to the previous three off-seasons and run up to transfer windows ending.

Although those sales – Riyad Mahrez, Harry Maguire and Ben Chilwell – were lucrative for the Foxes, many supporters naturally want their club to keep its most prominent assets. And why wouldn’t they? Leicester have some truly great players and emerging world-class talent.

Therefore this summer it will be a pleasant surprise when all of the aforementioned club leaders hopefully remain on Filbert Way. That is one of the ways to fill the objective of entering the Champions League.

One in particular, Barnes, is set to sign a new contract according to The Athletic.

Jannik Vestergaard was assisted in singing for Leicester City by Fox

Jannik Vestergaard is now a Leicester player; not only that but he has now featured for the Foxes alongside Caglar Soyuncu following replacing Daniel Amartey in defence during the win over Wolves. Amartey made a couple of errors and seemed to have a knock; regardless of any details about the Ghanaian, it is likely the Danish international will begin in defence versus West Ham United.

And Vestergaard revealed recently that LCFC captain and No.1 goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel had a significant hand in the ex-Southampton man joining the Foxes. The two are of course compatriots, and the former spoke of his new club teammate’s involvement as an ‘ambassador’, so to speak.

According to Leicestershire Live, Vestergaard said Schmeichel didn’t need to give him a “sales pitch” this past fortnight, as the last 10 years indicate the progress and success. However, during the previous decade Schmeichel apparently constantly praised the club and its staff to his countryman.
