Leicester: Rodgers reveals whether there’ll be any more signings
The new Premier League season 2021/22 has begun and Leicester City kicked off the new season with a close win against Wolverhampton Wanderers at King Power Stadium, where Jamie Vardy scored the only goal.
In a season where the big clubs are spending a lot of money, LCFC has also showcased its ambition in the transfer market. The club has already welcomed four new signings this season, which includes Boubakary Soumare, Patson Daka, Ryan Bertrand and Jannik Vestergaard whom combine for a fee of £55 million. Those signings have been crucial in order to address the much needed squad depth as the club faces a hectic campaign with Europe along with the domestic games.
Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers is quite happy and content with the business his team have done. Yet, he thinks the recruitment in the summer window is not quite done. When talking to the media in his West Ham United pre-match interview, the Northern Irishman said this:
"“You would like to (make more signings), but it’s going to be on the availability and whether they are affordable. We signed really good players early in the window, so we did our work, but we would like to add if we could. We’ll see what becomes available.“I don’t need to say exactly which positions, but we would like to bring in more players that could help us throughout a long, exciting season. If you want to compete, the depth of your squad is so important. The quality in depth is vital, especially if you are trying to be competitive in every competition.”Reported Leicester Mercury"
It is pretty obvious that the Blue Army wants an exciting dribbler on the right side of the pitch. Leicester’s defence seems to be satisfactory now and it will clearly be even stronger once the sidelined players return.
However, there are positions on the attacking front where LCFC require some additions; Domenico Berardi and Noni Madueke have been the most prominent names linked with the club for the right-wing position. If the famous side from the east Midlands manage to pull off one of these additions at this late transfer window stage it would be rather a surprise. Though they are bound to replace Riyad Mahrez at some point.
