Leicester City have started the new Premier League campaign with two wins out of their first three matches. But many integral players are currently missing through injury.

The latest win against Norwich City at Carrow Road has taken away the negativity of the loss against West Ham United. Following a crucial 2-1 win for the Foxes yesterday, where Jamie Vardy and Marc Albrighton scored for the visitors, the main talking point was regarding the injury trouble in the team’s camp.

Brendan Rodgers is already frustrated with the amount of players being sidelined because of injuries and the new name of Ricardo Pereira has been added to that dreaded list. The Portuguese right-back was responsible for assisting the first goal in the starting period of the game. However, he felt his hamstring while making the run and had to leave the pitch immediately after. This obviously comes with disappointment as he was finally starting to hit previous levels similar to before his horrific ACL injury.

The personnel unavailable is increasing, with big names such as Jonny Evans and new signing Jannik Vestergaard having to sit out in the games before the international break. When the gaffer was questioned upon the the inclusion of injured Jonny Evans in the Northern Ireland’s International team and Vestergaard’s status, he said this:

"“I spoke to Ian last week and Jonny was in the squad in the scenario that if he made a miraculous recovery. But the reality is that he won’t be fit, so he won’t travel. We want him back in training over the international break. He will stay at home.”The manager was also asked regarding the situation of Danish centre-back, replying:“He’s [Vestergaard] with the medical team, and we’re hoping to get him on the field next week.”Reported Leicester Mercury"

It feels as though the latter may be ready to feature in the next outing; while the former doesn’t appear to be approaching fitness yet.
