Leicester U23 starlets shine in win over former champions Everton
During the first half, McAteer was the progressive outlet from defence. Nelson or Braybrooke would get the ball into his path, and he would drive the ball forward, beating defenders.
Vontae Daley-Campbell. The captain of the side has been thoroughly professional in recent matches. He is an attacking wing-back and wants to drive forward, get assists, and score goals.
I expect to see him given senior team opportunities occasionally from now on, especially if he continues to score goals. A loan move to a championship side is coming.
Sammy Braybrooke. The man of the match for me. He reminds me of Hamza Choudhury while mixing that energy and defensive aggression with a ball switching pass similar to that of Danny Drinkwater.
During the match, he would regularly linkup play with several progressive outlets, knocking long balls and play switching passes across the whole pitch. His creativity was impressive.
Maswanhise and Wakeling – the other two goalscorers – looked their usual selves. Maswanhise is creatively devastating and will earn a senior team call up sooner or later.
Wakeling is developing into a high pressing, goal poaching forward: exactly what we will one day need in the senior team when Jamie Vardy hangs up his boots.
There are many starlets coming through the ranks that impressed against Everton. Remember those names.
