The fixture list is rapidly congesting, with Leicester City on the dawn of starting a new Caraboa Cup campaign, along with the Premier League and their tough group in the Europa. Ideally, Leicester will fight on all fronts this season – especially in Europe – but for that to happen, the Foxes need a squad with plenty of depth.

It it no secret that the last two seasons have seen City plagued with injuries. However, as the campaign continues, we will soon see the return of some crucial faces in the Foxes squad. Speaking ahead of the upcoming League Cup tie at Millwall, Brendan Rodgers updated the media on the latest squad news.

Jonny Evans

First, there’s an update on Jonny Evans. The experienced centre-back has been the most notable admission to the squad this season, with his absence leaving a huge hole in the Leicester defence. His ability to lead from the back is irreplaceable.

The Northern Irishman has been long suffering with a foot injury, plantar fasciitis, which has no clear timescale unlike a simple muscle injury. Evans threatened to come back into the starting squad recently but didn’t feature in the loss to Brighton.

He is expected to miss the trip to London tonight and will be assessed ahead of the crucial Premier League fixture against Burnley. He is coming back, but plantar fasciitis requires time and patience to heal.
