Leicester City’s disappointing start to the season continued after a 2-2 home draw to Burnley. With both teams coming into the game in poor form, Burnley took an early lead after Jamie Vardy’s own goal. The Foxes striker responded perfectly by scoring a predatory finish before Maxwel Cornet scored a screamer to restore Burnley’s lead.

In the 2nd half, Leicester huffed and puffed until Jamie Vardy raced clear to magnificently equalise. The drama wasn’t done there and Chris Wood thought he had snatched a late winner only for it to be ruled out for offside. Cue relief and disgruntlement in equal measure.

Leicester created chances (2.16 Xg) and only conceded 0.43 Xg, highlighting the defensive issues facing the team. After all, both goals were rather poor ones to concede. The continued team selection/tactics also raise further queries about Brendan Rodgers’ managerial skills. Nevertheless, talk of the sack remains premature and limited to a vocal minority of Leicester fans.

Without further ado, here are the player ratings: 6 denotes an average display.

Leicester City’s Kasper Schmeichel- 5:

Had very little to save, and couldn’t do anything about either goal but his kicking all afternoon was poor and put the Foxes in trouble repeatedly.

Ricardo Pereira- 6:

Bright going forward and unfortunate not to assist. Defensively found wanting and given a difficult 1st half by Maxwel Cornet, losing his man for the 2nd goal. Subbed off at half-time as Rodgers wanted more defensive solidity.
