Leicester City’s defensive woes could suffer even more detriment as an injury expert suggests centre-back’s Jonny Evans may require surgery.

Leicester vice-captain Evans has been struggling with a condition called plantar fasciitis for some time now; unfortunately, according to experts on the subject, it is a particularly awkward problem to fully recover from or even manage. And Brendan Rodgers, the Foxes boss, is currently discovering that as his team fail to deal with opponents’ attacks from top to bottom in the Premier League. Defending was also inadequate in the Europa League versus Napoli in a crucial clash.

LCFC supporters are hoping for another swift return for the Northern Irish player, yet a specialist in injuries suggests Evans may need to undergo an operation in order to finally recover from his issue:

"“This is a really tough injury to manage. It will be managed on a day-to-day basis.“It’s one of those that can be played through, but that depends on whether he can cope with the pain. There are some instances where it can require surgery, though there is no mention of that at the moment.”Ben Dinnery, via Football insider"

According to Foxes of Leicester’s brief research, recovery from surgery in this instance could take between three-to-six weeks. However, the club has not indicated that a procedure is on the horizon.

Following the pretty poor overall home display versus Burnley, second half appearing defender Timo Castagne was unimpressed with the Foxes‘ display or outcome of the game. In fact, the east Midlands team could well have lost the match late on, as a goal from former Fox Chris Wood for the Clarets was adjudged to be offside.

Castagne, in an unusually frank chat with a top tier footballer, was ever so forthcoming saying his team ‘shot themselves in the foot’. In other words LCFC are their own worst enemy at the moment.
