Potential Leicester transfer swap would see PL star return
A potential, apparent Leicester City transfer swap would see a former Premier League favourite return to the division. But do the Foxes need Aaron Ramsey?
Personally, I’ve always highly rated Ramsey and his style: although he’s injury prone, he is one of the most talented European midfielders of the last ten years when fit. If not, he would not have been signed by Juventus – even on a free transfer.
Ramsey is linked with a move to Leicester, which is very unlikely anyway due to his general wages. There isn’t even a place for him in the starting eleven.
Though, making a switch to Leicestershire more unfeasible is the fact that a reported swap would include LCFC sending Timothy Castagne in the other direction. Castagne is a valued part of the Foxes side, so maybe the claim in the article concerned is a bit far fetched.
Although, another school of thought would place the Belgian’s Leicester future in doubt: he is in direct competition with Ricardo Pereira for a starting role on the right – and the Portuguese has my vote. When the versatile defender featured on the left, even manager Brendan Rodgers suggested the displays were unsatisfactory.
Ex-Leicester City player who now scouts labels Brendan Rodgers’ work as intelligent
Sean St Ledger was a centre-back in a period for Leicester which is not remembered fondly in lesser leagues. Nevertheless he was a committed, pugnacious international. St Ledger is now a senior scout for the east Midlanders, and recently spoke of Rodgers’ astuteness.
In addition to his significant role for the King Power club, the former Fox is a national side coach with the Republic of Ireland Under-15s. He says he has watched over 700 matches since retiring in 2018, while praising Leicester’s handling of his own situation.
On Rodgers, the 36-year-old says that the onetime Liverpool boss is so adept that interacting with him is akin to undertaking a football coaching course. That is a great indication of the Northern Irishman’s intelligence. More can be read here.
