Leicester star injured for Crystal Palace match – how long is he out?
Leicester City are getting battered by injuries and the list has just gotten longer. Wilfred Ndidi is the new name which has been added to the dreaded list.
Both the main centre-backs as well as the highly rated full back James Justin are already sidelined and now one of the most crucial players for the Foxes is also out.
The Nigerian international did not travel with the squad to Legia Warsaw for the Europa League clash because of the red card in the previous match against Napoli. The speculation began when his name was not in the Nigerian Squad for the upcoming international matches.
People who have followed the club in recent past know that whenever the 24-year-old is unavailable, the team does not look the same. The recent results are not what the team would have expected for and now the growing injury list is surely going to aggravate the frustration.
This past window, however, LCFC addressed the situation of overdependence on Wilfred Ndidi in terms of bringing more depth to the position with Boubakary Soumare joining the club from Lille. It is very likely that the new signing will start in that position.
The gaffer also has the option of starting Hamza Choudhary as well as Keiran Drewsburry Hall in the midfield. With Youri Tielemans almost a certain starter in the first eleven, whether James Maddison will start this fixture or not remains to be seen.
"“Obviously he couldn’t play tonight but he had a bit of an issue at the beginning of the Burnley game so he’s a big doubt for the weekend. He’s felt a little bit in his hamstring. It’s impossible to find what we have,” Rodgers said of Ndidi’s absence before the clash with Legia."
Hopefully this means the man in the middle is only unavailable for one match, though it is difficult to gauge that from ‘BR’s’ comments.
"“We’ve got good players, but specifically the job he does in breaking up play and just his overall defending and in the box, he’s irreplaceable for us. We have a number of other good players, we just need to find a different way. That’s also part of the point, as I said earlier in the season, for bringing Soumare into the squad, because he gives us that physicality. But Wilf’s a really unique and fabulous player”Reported Leicester Mercury"
