To work out which of his squad Brendan Rodgers can work with this week, Foxes of Leicester details the senior Leicester City players who are not currently away on international duty.

I am sure FoL’s readers are more than aware of the current underperforming Leicester side. There is a slightly odd undertone among a rather small minority of Foxes fans, especially on social media, who are growingly intolerant of the results Rodgers and his team have produced generally in 2021/22 so far.

Although bolstered by some very poor performances, the aforementioned assertion materialised despite the season being in its infancy, as well as the boss’s amazing triumphant in the FA Cup versus Chelsea. Not to mention this campaign’s opener against Manchester City in the Community Shield – in which the gaffer also won more silverware.

Those few LCFC supporters who proclaim themselves #RodgersOut are, in other more candid words, talking absolute rubbish. Their collective slogan – I hate wanting the best for my team – being banded around the #LCFC Twittersphere is as embarrassing and cringeworthy as it is nonsensical: I love wanting the best for my team.

But let’s not get bogged down with the negative, selfish, uniformed, ungrateful and forgetful members of the Blue Army, because what we are really here for is direct analysis of the squad. Most of whom are on international duty at present.

Leicester City players Rodgers can work with at the moment

With most of the extended roster away training ready for national football, ‘BR’ has a few players to speak to and work with over roughly a fortnight. They include Englishman Hamza Choudhury, who impressed FoL in his 60 minutes or so vs Crystal Palace.

Another at home is the out-of-form England man James Maddison; he’ll be focused on regaining not just his Leicester spot but a place in Gareth Southgate’s plans. Croatian Filip Benkovic has yet more time to convince his boss that he is trustworthy.

Young Frenchman Boubakary Soumare hasn’t yet appeared for France; Portuguese Ricardo Pereira and Harvey Barnes are two others hoping improved club form will transpire and boost chances with their respective countries.

Finally, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Ryan Bertrand, Marc Albrighton, Jamie Vardy, Ademola Lookman Ayoze Perez are still in England and are not usually involved internationally.
