Tielemans rejects new Leicester contract offer
Youri Tielemans has reportedly rejected a new Leicester City contract offer, as the Foxes attempt to retain their star asset with superclubs circling.
Re-signing Youri Tielemans was the foremost factor on Leicester fans’ minds throughout a long summer. Adding a suitable winger was another contemplation, filled by the suitably promising Ademola Lookman.
Another area to strengthen was the left and central defence; the less said about those two acquisitions which shall remain nameless – but glaringly obvious – the better. A striker was also desired by the Blue Army and King Power hierarchy alike, with Patson Daka a seemingly excellent buy for that remit.
This leaves Tielemans as the only unknown or undisclosed capacity on Filbert Way presently. Unfortunately he is arguably the most important Fox, too. And, compounding the club’s issue of tying the Belgium man down to a new contract, a report suggests he has rejected an offer from LCFC:
"Exclusive – Youri Tielemans has rejected Leicester City’s latest offer of a new contract and is continuing to weigh up his options, 90min understands.Tielemans, 24, is not demanding an immediate move away from the King Power Stadium, but he is showing no inclination to extend his current deal. The Belgian’s contract is due to expire in 2023, and Leicester have been working hard to persuade him to sign a new deal as they are aware of the major interest emerging in him from both the Premier League and Europe.Via 90min"
Leicester City rediscover quality, determination and results
If, as a Leicester supporter, you were not worried about recent results this campaign prior to the latest international break then you are a more optimistic and brave person than myself. If you were so disillusioned that you were of the opinion that the contemporary Foxes boss should have been relieved of duty, I believe the Manchester United victory already proves you wrong.
Not that one Premier League game, win lose or draw, changes everything. However, what that 4-2 outcome proved is that this astute gaffer can turn poor form around fairly swiftly. He achieved that whilst under a lot of unnecessary pressure and also against top opposition. Defending is still an problem as the 4-3 thriller versus Spartak Moscow showed us. Yet LCFC attacking – Patson Daka’s four-goal haul illuminating the point further – is deadly once again.
