Leicester injury news: Why Vardy was substituted vs Brentford

Leicester City managed a plucky performance to secure three points against Brentford on Sunday. Jamie Vardy was substituted at half-time – is the striker injured?

Leicester were 2-1 winners at Brentford Community Stadium on Sunday afternoon thanks to a Youri Tielemans stunner and James Maddison finally returning to goalscoring ways. While struggling for 100 per cent cohesiveness throughout, it was very reassuring for Foxes fans to see their side battle and game manage cleverly toward the three points.

One concern for the Blue Army and manager Brendan Rodgers is the fact that Jamie Vardy was withdrawn at half-time with a strain. When asked if Vardy was in fact injured, Rodgers elaborated on his No.9’s issue:

"After the game, manager Brendan Rodgers revealed that Vardy had felt something in his knee during the warm-up, but was determined to play on. Following the win in West London against Thomas Frank’s outfit, the Foxes meet Brighton & Hove Albion in the English League Cup. In the previous round versus another capital side, Millwall, the King Power side comfortably won 2-0 with a weakened starting team. Expect Rodgers to employ that type of tactic again – pragmatism with his squad’s fatigue – but possibly with a stronger core against the Seasiders even though meeting at home.

After that Carabao Cup encounter, Leicester are back in Premier League action with another clash at KPS. This time Arsenal are the visitors to Leicestershire; the Gunners have done well away at LCFC in recent history and will be confident as Mikel Arteta seems to have finally got his team together. Yet Rodgers’ men are also in form and can beat any club on their day.
