Leicester: Significant injury update on Ndidi ahead of Arsenal game
Leicester City have received the positive news of a significant injury update on Wilfred Ndidi ahead of the Arsenal game in the Premier League.
For three English top-flight matches, the Foxes have attempted to fight on without interceptor and linchpin Wilfred Ndidi. Usually that would spell disaster – or more hardship, as results were awful at the time – but not these days, as Leicester’s squad is deeper with quality understudies and the like.
Boubakary Soumare has been particularly excellent in deputising for his Nigerian colleague; Ndidi is definitely a teammate with exceptionally large boots to fill in midfield, figuratively speaking. When not in the side, a missing Ndidi used to harms the Foxes’ win percentage endlessly. Though it must be said, the 24-year-old’s absence was not as sorely missed this time around.
Despite not completing quite as many tackles and interceptions, Soumare, a France Under-21 international, is arguably as effective as his LCFC counterpart for one reason: the far improved passing range and accuracy.
That area of the midfield skill set has often diminished Nigeria star’s capacity over his years with Leicester; as well as being a technique he is hopefully trying to refine. It is no good winning the ball if you subsequently give it straight back to your opponents, obviously.
When will Wilfred Ndidi return for Leicester City?
Recently, Brendan Rodgers insisted his defensive-man will make a comeback in about a month. However a training ground photo of Ndidi back on the practice pitches sent Foxes fans into a frenzy. According to Leicester Mercury, the latter may come back the Arsenal clash on Saturday:
"If the midfielder [Ndidi] is deemed fit enough to take part in Wednesday night’s game [Brighton & Hove Albion] is still to be seen, but it could mean that he may be available for the next league game vs Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.Via Leicester Mercury"
