Mason Mount: Mount is the other major piece of injury news as he missed the entire of England’s international window after recovering from wisdom tooth surgery – very Football Manager. Mount has been consistently excellent for Chelsea ever since his introduction to the squad in 2019.

Recently, Mount ended a slight goal-drought in sensational fashion, scoring a hat-trick in the 7-0 win over Norwich. He will be looking to add to his tally if he returns on Saturday.

"‘Mason is back in training, looking hungry and fresh and in a good spirit, but we need to evaluate. He did training sessions this week and looks good, but we need to see if he can start or play 90 minutes.’"

Mount won’t play the full 90, that much is clear, but it is likely that he will play a major part in Tuchel’s plans for Saturday. He scored his first ever Premier League goal against Leicester City in their 1-1 draw in 2019, let’s hope he fires blanks on this occasion.

Other squad updates: Tuchel also confirmed that winger Christian Pulisic will be available for the game, the American has performed well for Chelsea but has had rotten luck with injuries. He is the logical replacement for Werner if he can’t start or play in the clash.

Thiago Silva‘s involvement is still under question, with the Brazilian legend training with the squad with Tuchel saying the simple:

"“Let’s see how this works out”"

Silva is a huge leader in the Chelsea backline, but the likes of Rudiger, Christiansen and Chalobah have performed well in his absence.

Marcos Alonso was injured in training for the reverse tie against Malmo – Blues fans will be thankful not to have to play them again this season – and could return, though this would likely be on the bench given the recent form of former Fox Ben Chilwell.

Lastly, as per the Leicester Mercury, Kai Havertz picked up a bruised thigh in training whilst away on international duty, after scoring for Germany against Armenia, but he returned to the national team a few days later. Tuchel didn’t comment on this at all, so it’s put behind him now. Havertz will start as a centre-forward on Saturday in place of Lukaku, a role that he is excelling in. Leicester City should find him a relatively easier opponent, though.
